The Hole-in-the-Wall Wilderness Campground This coastal wilderness campground is located just one kilometer from the ferry landing. When leaving the ferry, turn right to Old Airport Rd. and follow signs. At the Park/Campground Entrance and reception centre there are the following facilities for the convenience of all visitors (including yachters and Islanders):
This wilderness campground is becoming an "attraction". Campers use the term "awesome" to describe some sites. Campground open from May 5th to November 11th. The campground has been designed and built with the following 3 categories: Entrance Area: a) Treed sites around a rafting pond all have power and are best suited for tenters, camper vans and pop-ups. b) A few 20 and 30 amp RV sites are partially wooded with large lots and great views of the harbour. We have seven fully serviced sites with on-site connections to sewer lines. Washrooms and showers are handy. We also have a couple of camp cabins too. Cliff Top: All the Cliff Top sites are accessible by vehicles. With unlimited access to the viewing decks, these sites are great for campers who do not want to sleep on the "edge!" but who want the convenience of driving to their site. Children who can exercise caution are welcome as are quiet pets. These sites are unserviced and are not for large RVs. Cliff Edge: These sites are what make this campground truly unique. Located along a 2.5 kilometer stretch of rugged coastline the sites are for tenters only. You will be beside the feeding route of whales and in the night you would listen, or may be awakened, as they blow and breach. Sometimes their singing breaks through the ocean surface below you. And you are less than a minute walk from your vehicle. Children are discouraged from camping on the Cliff Edge sites. Pets need special attention (tied at night) as some do not recognize heights. All the campsites have picnic tables. All sites have fire rings. Campfires are allowed with permission only. Large chemical toilets with sky lights are located throughout the Cliff Top and Cliff Edge locations.
There are no bear, moose, coyotes, skunks, porcupines, or poisonous snakes on Grand Manan. Campers often sleep under the stars. This 100 hectare
